After many rumors and different leaks, Activision Blizzard has finally confirmed the official name of the next game in its multibillion-dollar franchise. This new entry will beCall of Duty: Black Ops 6.
The announcement of the game’s name today also revealed additional details about its upcoming launch this year. This new entry will feature a popular character fromCold War, Russell Adler. Thanks to the work of the popular site CharlieIntel, the official website of the game is live and has revealed that this character is back.

Many rumors and leaks aboutthe upcomingCall of Dutyhave been circulating all over social mediaand the internet in general since the start of the year. Some of them said that the title would beBlack Ops Gulf War. However, Activision Blizzard has confirmed today the official name of the game; it will be calledBlack Ops 6and is being developed by Treyarch and Raven Software.

CharlieIntel has revealed that the game’s website is already operational, along with some details about the characters who will play a role in the narrative.

Apparently, a main character from theCold Wargame will be coming back: Russell Adler, one of the team members responsible for the previous title. This was part of a redacted letter on the website of the game that shows the beginning of the name of this character.

The previous game referred to this character as ‘America’s Monster’ due to his peculiar sense of humor. He was in charge of assigning you missions during theCold War, which coincided with your pursuit of the Perseus agent from the Soviet Union. Adler was a very popular CIA agent who was involved in several importantBlack Opsmissions that would ensure the country’s stability without anyone noticing. Of course, his intentions were questionable and his actions moreso as the events of the game went on, so it’ll be interesting to see if or where he lands this time round.

Once the Xbox Summer Showcase ends,Activision Blizzard will reveal the first world premiere trailer forCall of Duty Black Ops 6. This will happen on June 9. At the moment, and even after many rumors, there is no real information about where this game will be set. If Adler is involved, this could mean that the game will be set in the 1980s, like a kind of sequel toCold War. The live-action teaser could also mean that it will be set in current times.
Treyarch has launched numerous games in the franchise without the same success as the first back in the 2010s. WhenBlack Ops 3was launched, the franchise had already bet on the futuristic setting, which also included vertical action, wall-running, and other things that were far from the very core of the franchise. As always, the games in this saga are set to be released at some point in November.
