It all started when the company sued Aimjunkies.com in 2021. The people behind the website allegedly created and sold cheats that gaveDestiny 2players a plethora of unfair advantages.

It’s all come to a stop, however. According to a tweet from Stephen Totilo, the gaming studio has finally won its lawsuit against Aimjunkies, rewarded with around $63k in damages.

The jury sided with Bungie and Aimjunkies’ counterclam was swiftly struck down. One of the questions that this case aimed to solve, is whether cheat software is a copyright violation, which the jury’s verdict made clear.
What Could This Mean for the Gaming Industry?
It’s a solid win for the studio, and this win could have ramifications for cheating software creators and users across the gaming industry. Why? As Totilo puts it:
With this, we now have a jury verdict that supports game companies’ frequent claims that cheats like these infringe on copyright.

It remains to be seen whether they will eventually get their way, or if Bungie continues reigning supreme.
