Cosmetics in games likeOverwatch 2,Call of Duty, andFortniteare a great way for the studio to make a consistent form of revenue. Players can kit out their favorite characters in a unique skin, often those with limited availability.

Overwatchskins are a feature many in the community like to indulge in, and Blizzard does come out with some eye-catching appearances. However, the latest one released for Reinhardt has drawn much flak from the community.
New Reinhardt Mythic Skin in Overwatch 2 Irks Player Sentiments
Gamers are not averse to paying a little extra to acquire some cool cosmetics. This is especially true for online titles. However, when you may buy an entire game for the amount it would take to purchase a cosmetic item, things start to look a bit off. That’s the case with the new Reinhardt Bound Demon skin forOverwatch 2, and it’s getting a decent amount of backlash.
“Perhaps the sad experience of Overwatch speaks to me…”: Marvel Rivals Hasn’t Even Released and Some Fans Worry It’s Following the Same Path
Overwatch 2is no stranger to criticism, as many have expressed their disappointmentin the sequel’s decision to go from a 6v6 match to a 5v5. However, the latest Overwatch Mythic skin is something they can easily fix if they just listen to fans. It features Reinhardt clad in Doom Slayer-esque armor, and his ax boasts a flaming demon’s face. The attacks and charge-up animations also show some cosmetic changes to match the new appearance.

Unfortunately, fans who wish to use this skin are going to have to part with 80 Prisms! With $10 getting you 10 Prisms, gamers are up in arms for what they call a “ridiculous” price.
Eighty dollars is genuinely ridiculous

One reply states why they would not go for the skin, beyond just the inflated price tag.
The skin is cool and honestly one of the best weapons in the game but I am sorry, I cannot in good conscious spend $80 on this. In a game where you may have to swap out of rein because of counters, this makes this a big no for me.

Another has stated very clearly that no fan is going to buyOverwatchskins at this price.
BRO NOBODY IS BUYING THIS
One user states that Blizzard is playing a very odd game by asking fans to choose between a weapon or a skin.
I love the game but charging 80 prisms (pretty sure that’s like $80USD isn’t it?) for a weapon skin and now making players choose between a skin and a weapon is outrageous. At most this should be like 20-30 prisms.Mythics used to be a way to reward those who finished the…

Overall, most fans are just surprised that a skin costs as much as it does!
Wait how much does it cost?!
Blizzard needs to course correct the decision, as it was previously thought the mythic skin would be around 50 prisms. That’s still a lot, but people seemed more receptive to that price tag than the current $80.
Overwatch 2 Fans Reminisce About the Good Times in The First Game
Blizzard’s changes to the game have not been appreciated by the community, and fans are now thinking of all the fun times they had in the first game. Aside from changing the match configuration, the developer also removed the controversial but unique Assault game mode, also known as 2CP.
“Now Overwatch kids will say they copied…”: Marvel Rivals Fans Won’t Allow Overwatch to Accuse New Character of Copying, if Comic History Has Anything to do With It
Functioning similar toCall of Duty’s King of the Hill, it required the teams to take control of certain points on the map. Some in the community felt the game mode was too one-sided, while others enjoyed the experience.
Blizzard has a lot of work remaining to make sureOverwatch 2can be as successful as the first game. Listening to the community’s feedback is a good place to start, as they are the ones who will determine the longevity of the title.
