Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for the new Boruto chapter and previous chapters as well.

After along hiatus, the second part of theBorutomanga—titled Boruto Two Blue Vortex—finally begins (in the form of leaks for the time being). The first leaked chapter shows the adult form of many young characters, such as Boruto and Kawaki, and reveals that the new Hokage of Konoha Village is now Shikamaru, not Naruto.

The leaked pages (via @Abdul_S172) show an aged Shikamaru wearing the iconic Hokage cloak that Naruto wore before him. Shikamaru is also seen arguing with Sarada (Boruto’s team 7 companion along with Mitsuki) about Boruto’s innocence and identity, which is not surprising since the whole world was forced to forget about Boruto thanks toEida’s powerful Omnipotence Jutsu.

As it stands, Boruto has lost everything as the victim of one of the greatest anime plot twists. His entire identity is completly exchanged with Kawaki, establishing the latter as the true son of Naruto and a villager of Konoha, while Boruto is currently perceived as a rogue ninja and an enemy of Konoha.

Unlike Shikamaru, however, not every character from the old generation has aged. Naruto and his wife Hinata aretrappedin a dimension where time has stopped, so they haven’t aged at all. Eida and her brother Daemon haven’t aged either, nor has Sumire (one of the few who escaped Eida’s rewriting of history and retained her memories of Boruto). Eida is seen questioning Sumire and Sarada about how they were able to retain their memories while everyone else has forgotten.

As for those who got new adult designs, we have Kawaki of course (The one we saw in the Boruto movie, which takes place in the future of the current events). Boruto’s teammateMitsukiand Boruto’s sister Himawari have also grown up a bit, and Himawari doubts that Boruto is a bad guy, as everyone wrongly believes.

In this chapter, Code (the heir to the evil Ōtsutsuki Clan’s will)attacks the villagewith his army of ten-tailed minions, and Sarada is seen struggling to overcome her regeneration abilities. At this point, an adult Boruto finally makes his appearance after years of hiding to interrupt Code’s plans. He also makes eye contact with Kawaki for the first time in ages. The chapter ends with the preview text “The whirlpool of destiny/fate to be mixed once again.”
