Bloodbornefans are currently licking their wounds in a pit of misery and frustration afterSony, once again, failed to supply the fandom with any tidbits pointing to theSouls game’sexistence. This has been an enduring sore spot for players now nine years on from the gothic title’s release in 2015, and the recent Astro Bot trailer, which debuted at the recent State of Play showcase, gave fiends their biggest snub yet.

Developed by Sony’s Team Asobi, Astro Bot serves as a successor to 2018’s VR game, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, and 2020’s PS5 launch title,Astro’s Playroom, designed to flaunt the haptic feedback of the console’s DualSense controller. The cute robot returns in this platformer to explore a vibrant, interactive world and Sony packed the feature with Easter eggs from other exclusive IPs.

PlayStation fans are making it known which newly announced title they’re more excited about.

Since Astro’s adventures are exclusive to Sony andPlayStation, the devs included many references to other flagship franchises, including Aloy from theHorizonseries, Kratos fromGod of War, and even Nathan Drake fromUncharted.

The Bloodborne fanbase has been begging Sony for years to work on a sequel to The Hunter’s plight through a Victorian-styled city of Yharnam, especially since theDark Soulsseries received three entries and several other Soulsborne games followed, such asElden Ring. Fans would even be content with a port to allow PC gamers to take part in the punishing action or a remaster to enhance the dark fantasy visuals.

Astro’s Playroom was kind enough to supply fans with a subtle nod to Bloodborne’s protagonist in 2020, showing an Astro bot wearing a gold Hunter’s Hat while swinging aHunter’s Axewithin the grass. It was a cute tip of the hat to the fandom, but it only supplied hope for more.

After the Astro Bot trailer failed to include any reference to Bloodborne, the player pool wasted no time in airing their disappointment while discussing the aforementioned Easter egg. Several fans hadn’t even heard of the Astro games, stating“We be getting Bloodborne in games I’ve never heard of before Bloodborne 2.” Another touched on Sony’s refusal to port Bloodborne to PC,saying“‘Our mission statement is to publish all our games on Steam EXCEPT FOR BLOODBORNE’.”

Others expressed their exhaustion, sharing“This is torture at this point…,” andpointing out“We’ll have grandchildren before we have Bloodborne on PC, damn you Sony.” However, positive users were convinced the reference in Astro’s Playground was confirmation that a remaster was on the way, and the fandom will keep their fingers crossed for 2025 when Bloodborne turns 10 years old.
