While Giselle, with her innocent face and soft looks, seemed like someone who couldn’t hurt anyone, she turned out to be a sadist, not just for her enemies, but for her own comrades too. Her sadist side shined the most when the episode revealed at the end that she turned our beloved Toshiro Hitsugaya into a zombie. Given the zombies we have known for ages, we know they are some dead creatures barely walking and feeding on living creatures, and fans wonder if Toshiro has met the same fate and if he is dead.
Toshiro Hitsugaya Turned Into A Zombie In Bleach
Let’s explore Giselle’s unique abilities. She possesses a strange power: her blood can turn anyone into what she calls a “corpse.” If you touch her blood, you’re under her control, forced to obey her every command, even if it means harming yourself. This power doesn’t work on other Quincy, except if they’ve already died. Once Quincy has passed away, Giselle can bring them back as a zombie and use their abilities remotely. This was clearly visible in the recent episode as well. The amount of blood needed depends on how strong your Reiatsu is. For weaker Reiatsu, just a drop will do, but if it’s strong, it must spread throughout your body.
These zombie minions can even speak, and while the opponents need to keep their distance from Giselle, the blood of her minions doesn’t have the same power as hers, so you won’t fall under her control by touching it. Those zombified before death move faster and obey her completely, losing their original personalities in the process. It’s a chilling and intriguing power, to say the least. And now, with Hitsugaya turned into a zombie and in her complete control, he fights with all his might for Giselle against Mayuri Kurotsuchi.

Is Toshiro Hitsugaya Dead?
In contrast to the typical image of mindless zombies, Giselle Gewelle’s creations offer a glimmer of hope. Amidst a fierce battle involving Mayuri Kurotsuchi and his resurrected Arrancar team, Hitsugaya becomes one of these eerie thralls. Their clash rages on, with Hitsugaya wielding his icy powers, wreaking havoc on his opponents. Here’s where the plot thickens: Mayuri, the eccentric scientist, unveils a chilling secret - a drug that grants him glimpses of the future, allowing Hitsugaya to revive every time he’s defeated. Hitsugaya soon realizes that the key to breaking this relentless cycle lies in not killing Mayuri.
After a grueling struggle, Mayuri triumphs over Giselle and, with Rangiku’s help, places the recovering but zombified Hitsugaya into a specialized container meant for de-zombification. This decision comes at a cost, shortening their lifespans, but it’s a small price to pay for reclaiming their lives. Hitsugaya, once a zombie, makes a triumphant return from the edge of death, thanks to Mayuri’s scientific ingenuity, albeit with a reduced lifespan. So, the bottom line is that Toshiro Hitsugaya is not dead. Throughout the series' conclusion, Toshiro manages to stay alive and kicking, even when confronted with overwhelming challenges that repeatedly push him to his limits and bring him perilously close to death.
