You’ll be surprised to know, it’s been a whopping six years since the first CGI announcement trailer forThe Elder Scrolls 6at Bethesda’s E3 2018 stage. Although the studio has confirmed that they’re working on the game, we’ve received nothing so far, and it’s going to be like that for a while.

However, Todd Howard and his team have something for the fans of the franchise until we see the mainline entry. The studio has just announced that a mobile spin-off,The Elder Scrolls: Castles, is on the horizon, which will thoroughly shake up the franchise from the ground up.
A Brand-New Elder Scrolls Game is Coming Soon
TheElder Scrolls: Castles is the first so-called“new game” wehave seen in the franchise since 2014. As gamers patiently wait for the next big entry in the franchise,Castlesseems to be a perfect stopgap game.

Don’t underestimate the game just because it’s on mobile. The spin-off has beendeveloped by the same minds behindFallout Shelter, which has proven to be one of Bethesda’s biggest games in the current generation.

InCastles, a real-world day would mean one year passing in the game. It’s basically a spiritual successor toFallout Shelter, where you’ll have full control over your castle from a side-on perspective that would be quite familiar to any player who has dived into the post-apocalyptic management game.
Being in charge will be challenging, though, as you’ll have to make a lot of tough decisions. If you fail to solve problems, you might find yourself with unhappy workers revolting. In bad cases, someone might end up dead, or even the king or queen themselves.

The game is all set to go global on Tuesday, September 10, via Google Play and App Store. Unfortunately, there’s no word if we’ll ever see it on PC. AlthoughFallout Shelterdid eventually make its way to PC as a free Steam game, so don’t let your hopes down.
When is The Elder Scrolls 6 Coming Out?
Sure, the mobile spin-off is a good treat for all fans of the franchise. However, the next mainline installment of the critically acclaimed RPG series has been a hot topic of discussion. It’s been more than a decade since we’ve seen anElder Scrollsgame, which is making everyone wonder when the next one will be coming out.

The next game is expected to be released no earlier than 2026 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. This is according to one of the lawyers representing Microsoft duringlast year’s FTC hearing based on the company’s purchaseof Activision Blizzard.
Even though it’s probably a few years away, it’s not because Howard and the development team are purposefully dragging their heels. The team likely wants to take time and work on issues that plagued the previous entries so they avoid repeating the same blunders again.

We all know about the tragedy ofCyberpunk 2077and how rushed development hurt it. The studio may want to avoid falling into this trap.
