From consoles to PC, Bethesda Softworks has plenty of major titles in the pipeline like the upcomingDOOM Eternal,The Elder Scrolls VI,Starfieldand more. However, the publisher also hasn’t shied away from focusing its efforts on other platforms, with a new studio it has brought into the fold to expand on its projects in the mobile space.
Bethesda Softworks has announced that the publisher has acquired Alpha Dog Games as part of its growing development team, with the studio being specifically brought on for mobile game development on future titles.
In a statement, Bethesda’s senior vice president of development Todd Vaughn said “we are impressed by the team at Alpha’s commitment to quality and depth of experience in mobile,” and that the studio is “excited to have them join the Bethesda family.”
For those unfamiliar with the studio,Alpha Dog Gamesis based in Nova Scotia, Canada, and was founded in 2012 by Shawn Woods and Jeff Cameron. Since its founding, the company has primarily worked on mobile projects such asNinja Golf,MonstroCity Rampage, andWraithborne.
While no specific projects or titles were announced by either Bethesda or Alpha Dog, the acquisition makes sense given the publisher’s increased attention in the past few years on mobile projects. Notably, that has included titles such asFallout ShelterandThe Elder Scrolls: Blades, and bringing on Alpha Dog will surely give Bethesda an opportunity to bring more resources in developing other mobile titles down the line.
In terms of Bethesda’s other projects, most recently the studio announced that it would bedelaying its anticipated sequelDOOM Eternalfrom its original release date in November of this year to March 2020. Likewise, the studio also announceda new premium subscription membership forFallout 76, a move whichalready has drawn some ire from longtime playersof the game.
