Charlie Cox has become as synonymous with the character of Daredevil as RDJ has with Iron Man. Despite the fact that there is a big profile film starring Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck in leading roles, Netflix’s version of the character remains the definitive version of Daredevil for an entire generation.

However, Charlie Cox has expressed some interest in entering James Gunn’s DCU, as one of its principal characters no less. While Cox has shined brilliantly as Matt Murdock and Daredevil in the MCU, The actor is eyeing the role of The Joker in James Gunn’s new and improved soft reboot of the franchise.

Charlie Cox believed Heath Ledger nailed the role of The Joker

Charlie Coxhas expressed that he would like to have a new twist The Joker, one that deviates from the precedent thatHeath Ledgerhas set. At aFan Expo, the actor talked about how he might be interested in bringing a different take on the character. He said:

I wouldn’t want to take it on based on the actors you have in the past because they’re so brilliant, but I was thinking, like, the Joker would be a lot of fun. If you could find a way to do something… You know, I mean, Heath Ledger, for me, nailed that part, obviously. If you could find a new take on it in some way, that would be cool.

While he has already proven his worth time and time again when it comes to the character of Daredevil, Cox as DC’s Joker will definitely be a choice that would require some justification for fans, should it come to fruition. However, as seen before with Heath Ledger, casting directors often see things that mainstream audiences do not, resulting in versions of the character that end up defining it.
