In the eerie world ofBanishers: Ghosts of New Eden, players are faced with a crucial decision that will shape the fate of the protagonist Red Mac Raith, and his loved one Antea Duarte—choosing between the Ascension Oath and the Resurrection Oath. It’s a choice that goes beyond mere gameplay mechanics; it’s a narrative fork in the road that influences the entire journey through the haunted landscapes of New Eden.

The duo forms a couple of Banishers, serving to protect the living from lingering ghosts. However, after an unfortunate series of events, Antea becomes what she swore to destroy. The player, as Red, must make a pivotal decision and swear an oath to Antea, sealing her fate while affecting the way the plot unravels.
Should You Pick the Ascension Oath or the Revelation Oath in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden?
Banishers: Ghosts of Edenoffers players a myriad of optional side quests, called ‘Haunting Cases.’ At the end of each haunting case, the player must decide the fate of one human settler and the ghost haunting them. These choices impact not only the story but also Andrea’s fate. Based on which oath players choose, they must make certain choices during the end of these quests.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Has a Major Issue That Also Plagues Similar Games Within the Genre
The Ascension Oath, as the name suggests, results in the peaceful ascension of Antea’s soul from the world. This will trigger after Red reaches her body in the meetinghouse. If players choose the ascension oath, they can forcibly banish the spirits or peacefully ascend them with a ritual at the end of haunting cases. While this path may be the more morally right choice for many, the ending offers a bittersweet conclusion to Red and Antea’s relationship.
The Resurrection Oath offers a more twisted path with a ‘happier’ resolution for the couple, but not so much for those around them. Red vows to resurrect Antea, but this comes with a hefty price. Players must complete every optional haunting case before the end of the game and choose to blame the settlers during every closure scene. Blaming the settlers results in their death, giving the player ‘essence’ which is required for Antea’s resurrection ritual.
