Baldur’s Gate 3party member Shadowheart has captured the hearts and minds of many who have played Larian’s critically acclaimed RPG. The emotionally guarded half-elf is one of the first characters the player encounters in Baldur’s Gate 3, and proceeds to have some of the most interesting and emotional personal moments in the game.

While the Sharran’s personality has delighted many; according to Shadowheart’s voice actor Jennifer English, she wasn’t always exactly the beloved character we meet in Baldur’s Gate 3. English revealed thisin an interview with Dan Allen Gaming, which is well worth a full watch.

“So, originally, she was far more acerbic and prickly and she still can be… there is still that option, but I think that if you play your cards right, and you don’t do the things that Shadowheart doesn’t want you to do, then absolutely she can be a bit kinder and less guarded…” English began.

“I mean she’s guarded for sure still but at the beginning, she was just pure mean, which is really fun to play but actually we needed a bit more variation there. I think the fans were kind of instrumental in that. I think the fans went actually ‘I would like to see a different side of Shadowheart’ and very quickly, we did that as a result. Now we have this very human, for want of a better word, character which I adore playing.”
