Assassin’s Creedfans are not only being spoiled byUbisoft’spipeline of Brotherhood-heavy projects, because the teased Red title has finally received anofficial name and logodebuting Assassin’s Creed Shadows. If that wasn’t enough, the logo’s unveiling seemingly confirms past leaks regarding the main playable characters.

Shadows' official cinematic world premiere trailer is set for May 15 and the entry will take place in the fan-favorite setting of feudal Japan. Stealth is thought to play a major role in this title, with combat and map size similar toValhalla. Regarding the playable characters, however, Shadows’ logo reveal inadvertently reinforced previous scoops that highlighted the two protagonists on offer.

Yasuke And Naoe Seemingly Confirmed As Assassin’s Creed Shadows' Protagonists

Since Red’s announcement, several leaks have pointed to Yasuke, a real-life African samurai, being the protagonist, accompanied by shinobi, Naoe, who will allegedly serve as the playable female protagonist.

With these characters previously confined to the rumor mill, Shadows’ logo reveal added credence to a past leak that showed the entry’s main menu. The leaked image of the title screen (which has since been removed fromReddit) not only showed the now official logo, but it also featured the heads of a samurai and shinobi on either side, alongside the “Select Character” menu option with “Naoe” highlighted.

Since the logo matches what was seen in the leak, fans are nowconvincedthat Yasuke and Naoe are indeed the playable protagonists of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and it’s expected that both characters will officially be confirmed during the world premiere trailer.

This will be a first in Assassin’s Creed history where the protagonists are based on historical figures in addition to NPCs. Yasuke is said to have been a slave traveling by sea when he survived an ambush and was later taken under Oda Nobunaga’s service to train as a samurai. Naoe, on the other hand, is based on the daughter of real-life Iga jōnin, Fujibayashi Nagato.

With Ubisoft bringing these real-life figures to life, this suggests the rumored roster of additional factual characters will also be involved in the narrative, including Nobunaga, Akechi Mitsuhide, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Ashikaga Yoshiaki, Akechi Hidemitsu, and more.
