However, Brown first rose to fame with her performance as Eleven in the Netflix mystery-drama seriesStranger Things. In the series, Brown plays a teen girl with telepathic and psychokinetic abilities.

Brown had to sport a bald head for most of the show’s first season. Therefore, the young actress was asked to shave her head. However, Brown admitted in an interview that she was told very late in the audition process about having to shave her head. As a result, Brown’s mother was understandably infuriated, and here is what the actress had to say about it.

During an interview withElle, Brown opened up about her role as Eleven, which required her to shave her head for most of the show’s first season. While speaking to actor Aaron Paul in the interview, Brown revealed when she learned about having to shave her head.

We flew over to L.A., and they were like, ‘Are you ready?’ And I was like, ‘For what?’ And I was next to Finn [Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler], and Ross Duffer comes up to me and puts his hand out and goes, Bzzzzzzzzz.
Brown made the above statement, explaining that the producers were very clever about getting her to shave her head.

After a couple of rounds of auditions, Brown and her mother flew to LA where the actress was told about the condition to go bald. As a result, Brown admitted that her mother was furious with the demand and opposed her daughter going bald. However, Brown convinced her mother and it was smooth sailing from that point onwards.

In the same interview, Brown also reflected on her audition process for the series. TheDamselactress revealed that she was based in the United Kingdom at the time and received a reel of classic 80s movies such asThe Gooniesand others to base her character on.
My character was based off of E.T. I thought, This is very cool.

Brown made the above statement, admitting that she was excited at the prospect of doing a period piece when she auditioned for the role.
