After one of the most elaborate hype campaigns in recent memory ledARC Raidersto fall on its face, its developers seem to have learned their lesson, opting instead for a straightforward, transparent approach.
Emark’s upcomingpost-apocalypticextraction shooter is set tocome out on October 30for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This lands ARC Raidersright in the middle of the Battlefield 6 release, but that has not changed the game’s plans.

Ina social media post(featuring the ever-reliable loot-goblin Scrappy), the ARC Raiders team outlined the roadmap to the game’s release in just over two months. Followers of Chuddha will be happy to know this is another point in the bag for team ‘nothing ever happens’.
According to the post, the ARC Raiders team is currently focused on ‘polishing and expanding the experience, and putting all the learnings from TT2 into action ahead of release.’

Those wanting some more time in the Rust Belt will have to wait:Emark has announced it is “not planning additional public tests before launch.“Given the release is less than three months away, it makes sense that the studio wants to focus on fine-tuning the feedback from the previous round to ship out a complete game, rather than getting yet another wave of feedback to trigger a new cycle of development and testing.
Adding insult to injury to starved extraction junkies, ARC Raiders will also not be present in Gamescom, which kicks off on August 20th. Wake me up when October ends. The announcement is part of a commitment to “keep expectations in check” after the release date debacle.

ARC Raiders Hype Got Out Of Control
I gota taste of what Embark is cookingin the May test referenced, and ended up having a lot more fun than I did with theBattlefield 6first open beta window that closed today. Apples to oranges in genre, but both consume the same hours, and I wish I had more time with ARC Raiders instead of another frantic deathmatch in Battlefield.
After the playtest servers closed, Embark sent players on a wild hunt for clues scattered around the game. It was fun while it lasted, but turned out to be an ill-fated decision as players (yours truly included) convinced themselves thatthe hints pointed directly to a release dateinstead of when it would be announced.

The confusion led to some less-than-sporting behavior, with some disgruntled players evenresorting to review-bombing Embark’s other title, The Finals.
Emark apologized for the confusion caused, and has since taken the quiet route as ARC Raiders enters its final stretch of development. If the extra time allows the developer to ship out a more polished product that its creators feel confident in, it can only be a good thing for players.
