Apple has announced that they will be raising the prices of apps and in-app purchases on the App Store in multiple regions starting next month.

The company has not provided a reason for the increase in price on theApp Store, but did confirm the news via a newblog post. The announcement also confirmed that the upcoming price increases won’t impact the Apple TV platform and auto-renewable subscription plans.

The updated prices will be introduced on October 5, with all apps and purchases seeing a price increase varying from the country. The list of countries that will be affected by price changes includes Malaysia, Japan, Egypt, Chile, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweeden, Vietnam, and all countries that use the euro as their official currency.

Additionally, Apple outlined that renewed prices in Vietnam will reflect new regulations for the company to collect and remit applicable taxes. For those within the US and the UK, it’s worth noting that you won’t be affected by these prices changes.

“Your proceeds will be adjusted accordingly and will be calculated based on the tax-exclusive price. Exhibit B of the Paid Applications Agreement will be updated to indicate that Apple collects and remits applicable taxes in Vietnam” the official announcement reads. Apple also claimed that developers can change the price of their apps and in-app purchases thanks to the updated pricing and availablity section. Developers also have the ability to preserve the prices of their existing subscriptions.

Apple shared an updated price list, showcasing new customer prices for each tier. According to the list, in European territories except for Montenegro, the minimum price starting from the bottom will be $1.19. It will be increasing at different rates towards the higher tiers. You can also find the price increases in other countries such as Sweeden, Poland, or Malaysia fromhere.

This isn’t the first price increase within the gaming industry, as Sony recently confirmed that they would be increasing the price of the PlayStation 5 within Europe, Japan, and parts of North America. The increase in price comes due to “high global inflation rates”.
