The world of reality media entertainment has more drama than all ofBig Little LiesandPretty Little Liarscombined. Despite the existence of endless shows like90 Day Fiancé, the market for this particular “genre” never seems to run out of demand. In turn, fans enjoy a constant voyeuristic supply of hysterical, disastrous, and often annoyingly enviable relationship drama that pairs up strangers by exploiting their need for companionship and fear of missing out.

Shows likeThe Bachelor,Love Island, andLove is Blindhave set the stage for modern-day dating. For those on the more down-low end of the dating scene, Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, Coffee Meets Bagel, DoULike, and Plenty of Fish are only some of the apps that exist to serve the discontented singles. To claim that society is overrun by a contorted view of finding love is similar to saying that water might just be wet after all.

90 Day FiancéLove Story Ends in a Disaster (Again!)

When the foundation of a relationship is based on the barest of familiarity, 3-month acquaintance through a dating app, miscommunication issues due to cultural shock and language barrier, and getting hitched within a month of meeting one another in person, it isn’t surprising when therelationship starts going downhill, ultimately ending in disaster and mutual heartbreak.

Deavan Clegg from Utah and Jihoon Lee from South Korea were destined for each other… until they weren’t. The couple who met each other in 2018 via a dating app had fully committed to seeing their relationship through to the end when Jihoon flew over to the US to meet his would-be better half in person. After knowing each other for 8 months, Clegg finally decided to move to Korea with her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, a surprise pregnancy threw a wrench in their pre-made plans and after a lot of back and forth and several pregnancy tests later, a celebration was in order. The former couple welcomed their son Taeyang in April 2019.

The relationship began to crack a year later. In May 2020, Jihoon Lee and Deavan Clegg officially split and the latter moved back to the US from South Korea. In August 2020, Lee announced via social media that his estranged wife had begun dating someone new. In September, Clegg filed for divorce.

Deavan Clegg Flings Damaging Allegations at Jihoon Lee

When the fans first met Deavan Clegg in Season 1 of90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, she was a 24-year-old single mother to Drascilla, a “wild child.” By the tail-end of Season 2, Clegg and Jihoon Lee were hardly on civil terms after the former claimed that Lee had been abusive toward her daughter. The allegations directly precipitated the downfall of their relationship which was already starting to fray due to their mutual cultural and language barriers.

Meanwhile, their son Taeyang was merely 16 months old when Deavan Clegg orchestrated her major move from Korea to the US in May 2020. In the process, not only was the couple’s relationship in shambles but their child was caught in the crosshairs as Jihoon Lee felt“broken”without his son. Clegg was awarded full sole and physical custody of Taeyang in 2022, around the same time when the couple’s divorce was finalized.

In May 2022, in a twisted turn of fate, Taeyang was diagnosed with cancer shortly after his third birthday. Clegg informed the fans via anInstagrampost that Taeyang had undergone multiple surgeries, was put on chemotherapy, and needed around-the-clock hospital care with a full chance of recovery in five years.
