X-Men ’97is only getting better and better with each new chapter, and it looks like the upcoming seventh episode will not be an exception to the rule. Thanks to a new preview of the episode, fans of the X-Men will finally get to see Rogue at her full strength as she goes completely “rogue” after the Genosha massacre.
Fans have always complained about Fox’s portrayal of Rogue in the films, watering her down from the absolute powerhouse that she is in the comic books and not letting her mutant abilities shine bright at the highest setting. Luckily,X-Men ’97doesn’t seem to have any problem showing Rogue’s true personality and fans couldn’t be happier.
X-Men ’97is Finally Giving Fans a Comic Accurate Rogue
In the fifth episode ofX-Men ’97,fans were greeted by the attack on Genosha which resulted in the death of many characters including Gambit and Magneto. Clearly shaken by the aftermath of the attack, Rogue (Lenore Zann) decides to ambush a military base as seen in the preview clip ofBright Eyes,the seventh episode of the series.
As she annihilates the military base, she is seen effortlessly picking up a tank with her bare hands, hitting another tank using the one in her hands, and continuing to do so for a few moments. Needless to say, Rogue is one hell of a mutant to mess with.

However, the character was dulled down in Fox’sX-Menfranchise and fans have always held a grudge against the studios for this exact reason. Thankfully,X-Men ‘97’s portrayal of the mutant is completely opposite and fans couldn’t be more grateful. Taking to X, fans voice their disappointment with Fox’s portrayal of Rogue, as well as their approval of the character in the animated series.

It is incredible how much those movies did no justice to like 95% of the characters.

The reason why the fans have looked down upon Rogue’s portrayal in the films is because they failed to capture her true essence. She is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe. She has the ability to absorb the powers of any mutant she touches, just through her bare skin. Rogue has had one-on-one fights with characters like She-Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel. She possesses the superpower of flight as well as super-strength.
Not only can she absorb the superpowers of others but she can also gain their strength, agility, and reflexes, along with their memories and talents. These are just a few of the many powers Rogue holds which is why, fans are so pressed about how Fox basically ruined her character.
Rogue Actress Anna Paquin Also Has Her Complaints
Anna Paquinplayed the role of Rogue in Fox’sX-Menfilms and even she doesn’t seem to be a big fan of how her character was treated. In fact, she didn’t even get to fly in any of the films!

During a fan interaction onXin 2015, Paquin was asked if she would ever want to return to play Rogue again. Her answer was simple; if she got to fly in the film, she would definitely come back for another go.

When the fan pressed further stating,“OMFG, so you’re saying you would like to play ROGUEagain?” Paquin replied how unfair it was that “comic book-Rogue” got to enjoy her flight powers but “movie-Rogue” never did. She also added that she would want to play a badass Rogue and not a shy one.

It is quite evident that Paquin, too, is a little disappointed when it comes to her Fox role. Only time will tell if live-action will ever do the mutant justice or not.
