There were many aspects that made theDragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichiseries stand out as some ofthe greatestDBexperiencesever created, and one of these elements was the faithfulness that it showed to its source material. Tournaments have always held a special place in the franchise since they’ve been a part of the manga and every anime adaptation that has followed, ranging from the OGDBtoDBZ.

The Dragon World Tour mode in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was absolutely amazing.

In fact, the sagas featuring these tournaments used to become instant fan favorites, and games likeBudokai Tenkaichi 3perfectly incorporated them into a dedicated mode, so it makes sense forSparking Zeroto go one step further.

Imagine Online Tournaments in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

Back in the good oldBudokai Tenkaichi 3days, there used to be an additional mode called Dragon World Tour that allowed players to participate in tournaments, and once gamers entered, they were greeted by Mr. Satan.

Players could emerge victorious in one tournament and head to the next, and the list ranged from the World Tournament to the iconic Cell Games, with Bandai Namco even throwing in the Otherworld Tournament for fans to take part in.

Winning in any of these tournaments would reward the victor with some form of random prize, which included a specific-numbered Dragon Ball, cash, and more, but there was one aspect that couldn’t be implemented in the PS2 era game all those years ago.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Biggest Flaw Has Already Been Uncovered

Since the concept of online gaming hadn’t been introduced when theBudokai Tenkaichiseries was in its prime and considering the current technological capabilities of games and platforms, a fan thinks “they should add full scale online tournaments with 20-30 players.”

TheDragon Ballfan pointed out how the “losers” can “spectate” the rest of the tournament until one player earns the winning trophy, further stating that “A game mode like this should be a no brainer addition.”

Fans Have Ideas Regarding the Tournaments

Fans think that ifSparking Zerodoes include the mode, it should go all out and have more different tournaments thanBudokai Tenkaichi 3used to have, such as the Tournament of Power and Hell’s Tournament. The latter could be a “villains only” spectacle “with Goz or Mez as the announcers,” putting an evil twist on the Dragon World Tour.

Let’s just hope that Bandai Namco is listening to the fanbase, as the tournaments are something that the community seems to have “missed the most,” so throwing in “an offline” tournament mode would be appreciated as well.

If Budokai Tenkaichi 3 could include so many different tournaments, then so can Sparking Zero.

Ever since Osama was gifted the glorious PS2 more than two decades back, video games have formed a major part of his life, ranging from spending hours playing through every single Dragon Ball game he could find to witnessing the gaming industry evolve into something extraordinary in modern times. Building his collection of PlayStation consoles throughout the years all the way up until PS5, he prefers single-player experiences like The Last of Us and Persona, while also letting off steam on a daily basis with casual EA Sports FC matches. But the current rise in online multiplayer shooters will never really appeal to his old-school self.
