Anime series might come and go, but there are only a few anime that leave an everlasting impact on our hearts.Hunter X Hunteris one of those legendary anime series that has set a mark in the aspects of storytelling, soundtracks, brutality, comedy, character development, and anything else that an anime aficionado looks for in a series.
Hands down, every scene inHunter X Hunteris well presented, but there are a few moments to which our eyes were on stalks when we first saw them. And to this day, those scenes make us drop our jaws.
5. Killua Overpowers Youpi
Calling Youpi powerful would be an understatement. Being one of the three Royal Guards of Meruem, he was one of the strongest Chimera Ant to have ever lived. His appearance and dark aura even made the top drawer Hunters sweat.
Right before Youpi is about to kill Knuckle, Killua surprises him with his Thunderbolt attack, paralyzing Youpi for a short moment. When the other hunters try to maintain their distance from Youpi, Killua confronts him without a second thought. Killua is all loaded with his nen power and reaches a stage called Godspeed. With his powers unleashed, Killua literally moved from one spot to another in a blink of an eye.
Punching, kicking, electrifying, and dominating Youpi without much effort made this sceneHunter X Hunter’sone of the most legendary moments. Watching Killua’s true powers came as a surprise for Youpi as well as the viewers.
4. Killua Killing Johness
In this scene of Hunter Exam Arc, it was clear that messing with Killua could be a death sentence. Johness The Dissector, a mass murderer of the Zaban city, was overwhelmingly powerful, or at least he seems to be. Johness warns Killua that he will crush him to his death without showing any mercy towards him. To this, Killua confidently replies that it will be a deathmatch in that case.
At first glance, it seems like it’s the last time we are seeing Killua, but soon the little kiddo turns the table in his favor. In fact, it wasn’t even a match. The moment the match starts, Killua plunges Johnesse’s heart with his deadly sharp nails and puts the poor man to rest once and for all. Except for Gon, everyone is stunned by the kid’s move and tries to keep their distance from him, pretty obvious, though.
3. Netero And Zeno Extermination Plan
Quite from the start, it was obvious that the old men of the series are exponentially powerful. But how powerful exactly? Well, this legendary moment fromHunter X Huntershowed us a little glimpse of their powers. In order to separate the Ant King from his royal guards, Netero and Zeno plan to make a move that will bait Neferpitou and Shaiapouf away from the palace. This is when the fun begins.
Zeno uses his ability to create an aura dragon that carries him and Natero above the castle. Neferpitou senses the two and makes a move, after which the dragon splits and starts to pour down on earth like fire arrows. The scene was exceptionally a momentous one. The beauty of the scene doesn’t end here. Zeno’s attack injures Komugi, consequently making the Ant King furious. Meruem agrees to the fight with Netero, but both Netero and Zeno are shocked to see the human side of Meruem.
2. Gon’s Transformation
This scene gives us chills to this day. Looking at Gon in his new form was surely a treat for us, but at the same time, it was terrifying to see the most lively and highly spirited character of the series take a devilish form all of a sudden.
Gon is filled with sorrow, and he continuously blames himself for Kite’s death. While weeping out of misery, a very dark aura surrounds the little boy. Even Neferpitou starts to sweat seeing Gon getting all demonic. Gon starts to collect all the nen he will ever have in his life, which transforms him into his older self. Gon kills Neferpitou brutally without showing any mercy. Somehow Neferpitou is able to sever Gon’s hand, after which he takes his chopped-off hand and beats Neferpitou to death.
1. Netero’s Final Move
Each and every moment from the Netero and Meruem fight was a legendary one. Not just it’s the best fight inHunter X Hunter, but one of the best ones in the entire anime history. Also, this was the first time we saw what Netero was truly capable of. Being able to pray and unleash his powers despite losing his arm, different types of attacks, the conversation between Meruem and Netero, there was a lot to see in this fight.
Despite being the strongest human alive, Netero was not able to do any major harm to Meruem. Even with his strongest attack, 100 Type Guanyin Bodhisattva Zero Hand, he wasn’t able to defeat Meruem. Such immense power of the Ant King even dismayed Netero, and it looked like the old man’s total defeat. But soon, Netero chuckles and tells Meruem that he should not consider humans as weaklings.
A very dark aura starts to surround Netero, and it is the first time the Ant King experiences the feeling of fear. Soon, Netero punctures his heart with his two fingers which cause an explosion called the Miniature Rose. The massive explosion poisoned the king and almost killed him. Meruem was saved by Youpi and Shaiapouf, but the effect of poison anyhow killed the Ant King soon.
