The mysteries in the One Piece series are the bones of the worldcreator, Eiichiro Oda, built. In the series, the biggest threats are not always the admirals or pirates, but the search for the truth.
Every Emperor In One Piece And Their Greatest Feats
What separates the ordinary and strongest pirates on the Grand Line are the remarkable feats that make them emperors on the sea.
The series' search for the truth is tied to many of its mysteries, and the destruction of the people of Ohara is enough to portray that every character who gets close to the truth either dies, vanishes, or becomes hunted. As the series enters its final arc, some of the mysteries are beginning to unfold, but we still don’t have the answers.

Here are some of the mysteries that remain unresolved in the series.
10The God Valley Incident
The World Government, Slaves, Pirates And A Hidden Agenda
The incident at God Valley remains a buried truth that even the World Government is terrified of what it might reveal. For those of us who follow the series from panel to panel, the incident coincides with the dayBonney’s birth mother, Ginny, Bartholomew Kuma, and Ivankov escaped the iron hands of the Celestial Dragons.
It could also be the day Gol D. Roger found Shanks as a baby. On that day, Garp’s alliance with Roger against the Rocks Pirate was not the only showdown at God Valley because it was the day of the Celestaila Dragons’ hunting competition.

However, what really gets under the skin is that the island itself is gone. How does an entire landmass vanish into thin air unless someone wants it to disappear?
Was the mother flame used to destroy the island? Pirates and Marines have always clashed, and the Celestial Dragons' oppression is not hidden, so why go to such lengths to ensure the erasure of an entire island?

9The Void Century
The Forbidden Past
If you ever think about the world of One Piece and feel something unsettling, it will most likely lead you straight to the Void Century. It is a missing part in history, a century-long blackout that was intentionally erased, and speaking of it is forbidden.
The Ancient Kingdom existed during the blackout, and we don’t even know its name, the kind of power it holds and the ideals they had that they had to be buried forever. And this also ties into the will of D as part of the erased period in history.

Individuals like Monkey D. Luffy, Gol D. Roger, Trafalgar D. Law, Marshall D. Teach, and other D clans are regarded as the true enemies of the gods and are threats just by existing. With all the elements tied into the void century, it can be presumed that this void in the past was a revolution about some people who resisted the rise of tyranny and had to be erased from history.
8Blackbeard’s Two Devil Fruits
A Defiance Of Devil Fruits Logic
Blackbeard has always been a walking question mark in the series because he represents the unknown. The moment in Marineford, when he acquired the Gura Gura no Mi with his Yami Yami no Mi devil fruits, seemed unprecedented until he made it possible.
What makes it even more unnerving is how little he reveals, because he hid behind a cloak to make it more shocking to the people at Marineford. Marco hinted that Teach’s body is built differently, but what does this mean?

Was Blackbeard born that way? What secret lineage does he belong to? Is it a curse or a connection to something older, like the will of D or the void century? And also, the version ofBlackbeard’s D does not liberatebut conquers.
7What is Luffy’s Dream?
The Future Pirate King True Dream
Fans thought they knew Luffy’s dream because we’ve heard him shout it at the top of his lungs since episode one—to become the Pirate King. After Wano, Oda finally cracks the door open, and when Luffy tells his crew about his actual dream, it leaves them all speechless.
Of course, Oda does not let us hear it because it is the kind of secret that will redefine everything we think we know about Luffy. Hence, his real dream would be something only Luffy could believe in.
Yet, no matter how ridiculous or shocking it will be when it is revealed, it fits the kind of person Luffy is and is worth waiting for.
6The One Piece
The Treasure At The End Of The Grand Line
The one piece treasure is undoubtedly one of the most captivating mysteries in the series, and its allure has persisted since Roger ushered in the Great Pirate era in Logue Town. The fact that Roger and his crew discovered it and laughed only deepened the intrigue.
10 Reasons To Start Watching One Piece
Understand what makes One Piece such a great show, from a number of great characters to breathtaking world-building.
This shows that what makes the mystery compelling is not just the treasure but what it represents. What could it be that it elicits such an emotional and almost bizarre reaction fromthe pirate king and his crew?
The intrigue about what the treasure is lies in how it ties to the many mysteries in the series, which keeps fans coming back to see how it will finally shape the world of One Piece.
5The Identity Of Imu
The Ghost Who Sits On The Empty Throne
The secret to Imu’s identity is the spine of the series' most profound mystery, because whoever s/he is, he is all-powerful and ancient. The five elders who command the highest authority in the world don’t question or advise Imu; they obey, which is terrifying.
On Egghead Island, St Jaygarcia Saturn was drained, like Imu was devouring his lifeforce until he became a skeleton. This shows Imu’s sinister power, but where does that kind of power come from?
Does Imu have magic, and does this explain the pentagram that the elders used to summon themselves to Egghead? Fans have many theories about Imu, some of which are that he has one of the god’s fruits, or he isn’t entirely human anymore or never was.
4Who is Joyboy?
The Name That Echoes Across Centuries
The more we learn about the past etched on the poneglyph, the more often we hear the name Joyboy. The man failed to keep the promise to the mermaid princess, but the story takes a new angle when Zunesha calls out inthe Wano arc, “Joyboy has returned.
While the awakening of the Hito Hito no Mi devil fruit is a reflection of Joyboy, we still don’t know who he was. Was he the king of the Ancient Kingdom? A god-like being? A title passed down? A soul to return in time of need?
Even now, with Luffy bearing the will and the final world approaching, the question of who Joyboy is still unanswered.
3What Crime Did Zunesha Commit?
The Sin Of The Past
Zunesha is one of the oldest creatures of the past, and she has been wandering the sea for centuries, carrying an entire kingdom on her back. No one knows why she has been roaming the sea, except that she has a connection to Joyboy and is joyous about his return to Wano.
However, what crime could she have committed in the past that could warrant eternal punishment for a creature that lived during the void century and knew Joyboy? What is even more intriguing is how he responds to commands, such as when Momonosuke commands him to destroy Jack’s ships.
It is almost like Zunesha has forfeited the right to choose even when Jack and his crew throw a barrage of attacks at her. Zunesha is still walking, and now that Joyboy might have returned through Luffy, that walk might finally end. But before that happens, what did Zunesha do that she accepted a life of servitude without protest?
2Who Are The Gods In The Elbaf’s Mural?
The Gods Lost In Time
In Elbaf, an old mural painted on the Adam tree depicted four gods: the rain, forest, earth and the sun god. Even though Luffy’s devil fruit might be linked to the sun god, it still shows that these gods were forgotten by time and are figures of the past.
Were these gods part of the ancient kingdom? Or were they once real people whose power and status elevated them to divine status? Or are they tied to the creation of the devil fruits? If these gods existed and had been deliberately erased, who benefited from their destruction?
Moreover, one can’t erase the existence of gods unless their memories threaten someone’s power. The questions surrounding these gods mentioned in the mural are endless, and fans can only wait as the series unfolds.
1Who Is Queen Nefertari Lili Of Alabasta?
The Queen Who Refused Godhood
Lili was the queen of Alabasta during the void century. When the twenty royal families formed the World Government, they were all invited to become the Celestial Dragons and live in Mariejois, but Lili refused, and her family stayed in Alabasta.
However, she never made it back home to Alabasta. Imu also mentioned in the throne room that she committed a grievous sin. ToImu and the five elders, she was a traitor and possibly one of the earliest carriers of D’s will.
Lili disappeared under mysterious circumstances and left behind a letter containing a dangerous truth that the king of Alabasta, Cobra, had to die for. Hence, what truth did Lili try to protect, and why are the world’s rulers still terrified of her name?
